Homemade Chicago Tavern Style Pizza Sauce

Ingredients

1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes

4 oz tomato paste

6 garlic cloves - chopped fine

½ tsp crushed pepper flakes

2 tbsp fish sauce

1 tbsp red wine vinegar

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp butter
-
pinch of dried basil, dried oregano and thyme
Directions
Heat butter and olive oil over medium heat until butter is melted. Add garlic, pinch of salt, and red pepper and cook for 2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden. Add tomato paste and cook for 3-5 minutes. Add tomatoes, a pinch of salt, dried herbs, and fish sauce.
Bring to boil then reduce to a simmer for 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat. Blend with an immersion blender until smooth. Season with vinegar, salt, and pepper.
